Volunteer Opportunity: Butterfield Elementary

 
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITY: BUTTERFIELD TRAIL ELEMENTARY HABITAT WORK DAY

What:   A work day for PHASE I of the creation of an outdoor learning space to include Square Foot Gardening Plot, Certified Native Habitat, and a Raingarden.  (PHASE I: Our goal this day is to ammend the clay soil at the site with compost, preparing it for a later planting day. )

When:   Saturday, June 4th, 8:30am

Where:   Butterfield Trail Elementary School; 3050 N. Old Missouri Road, Fayetteville.  Meet at the site, between the school and gym.

Who:   A collaboration between the Fayetteville Community Wildlife Habitat Project, the Illionois River Watershed Partnership, Apple Seeds, Inc., and the Butterfield Elementary PTO. 

(No children this day, please, as equipment and trucks will be involved...children will participate in the later planting days. )

Please Bring:  
*We need two more people with trucks, willing to make compost runs....let us know asap, please.
*We also need two more people with tillers , let us know asap, please.
*In addition, bring:  Gloves, Water Bottle, Shovels, Hard Rakes, Wheelbarrows, Buckets (small rock removal). 

We will be unloading, spreading and tilling compost into the mostly clay soil to a depth of 8".
