Outside Magazine's Six Careers of 2011

Each year Outside Magazine highlights the best jobs and best companies to work for. Well this year they highlight Sustainability Coordinator as one of the top six careers of 2011. Who knew?

If you're curious, the closest company to Arkansas listed on the best to work for list is Chesapeake Energy. They pay their employees to exercise and provide a 32,000 square foot gym on site at their headquarters in Oklahoma City. It's difficult to calculate, but I wonder how much they've avoided in insurance premiums due to a healthier workforce? Not to mention increased productivity?

The top company listed is Natural Habitat Adventures in Boulder, Colorado. They give extra days off to their employees to volunteer, provide subsidies for travel and sabbatical programs, and provide incentives for their employees to stay healthy as well.

Even more interesting is that most of the 50 companies on the list are hiring! Go get 'em!
